Just to say how much I appreciated your kindness in letting me take some pictures of the South Lodge today.
As I indicated I am putting together the story of a family some of whom lived there in the C19 and it is great to get a feel of where they were.
From about 1878 until the early 1890’s Ellen Magrath and her spinster daughter, also Ellen, lived in the South Lodge.
Ellen was the widow of a mounted exciseman and had previously lived in Dawlish.
Another of Ellen’s daughters, Victoria, had married and she lived with her daughter Louise in a flat just along past Pulteney Bridge in 12 Grove Street.
One of Ellen’s sons, Thomas, had retired into Bath after many years service in the Royal Navy, including time as a Quartermaster attached to Livingstone’s expedition up the Zambesi.
Please find attached a composite of some of the shots that I took.
With best wishes

Saxophone legend and Exeter resident Raphael Ravenscroft dies aged 60
RAPHAEL Ravenscroft, the British pop legend who organised a charity gala concert in Exeter in memory of Nicole Hartup, has died at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.
My late and still mourned great friend Gypie Mayo always recalled jamming with him and doing a great rendition of ‘Fool On The Hill.’
Very sad I never met the man who inspired millions including me!
